Common questions

I lost my license key — can I get it again?

Yes. Email me from the same address you used at purchase and I'll resend the key. Your license is tied to that email forever; there's nothing to "renew" or pay again for.

I bought a license but Dotti says "Could not reach the license server."

This is almost always a network or firewall issue on the Mac running Dotti. Check that the machine has internet access and that dottidraw.com isn't being blocked by a VPN, content filter, or corporate proxy. If you're on a managed/work Mac, try a personal network first.

If the problem persists, email me with the version of Dotti you're running and a screenshot of the error!

How do I cancel my free trial?

Email hello@dottidraw.com before day 7 and I'll cancel the trial for you before the charge.

How many Macs can I activate Dotti on?

Two. If you need to move to a third (say you're replacing a machine), email me and I'll free up a slot.

Is Dotti available on Windows or Linux?

Not yet. Once Dotti has been through enough refinement and polish, it will be easier to port from macOS to Windows and some distributions of Linux. For now, Dotti is macOS first, but don't be too discouraged! The timeline is months, not years.

Does Dotti work on Intel Macs / older macOS?

Dotti is a native, universal binary, which means it runs on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. The minimum supported operating system is currently macOS 15.6.

I found a bug / I have a feature idea.

Why not both? Email me with as much detail as you can! For bugs; what you did, what you expected, and what happened. Screenshots and a Dotti file that reproduces the issue help a lot. For feature ideas, I read every single one; I can't promise everything ships, but the roadmap is shaped by what Dotti users ask for.

Dotti crashed or my file looks corrupted.

First, check ~/Library/Application Support/Dotti/Autosave — Dotti keeps autosaves of recent work and you can usually recover from there. If that doesn't help, email me with the file (if you can share it) and the macOS crash report from Console.app → Crash Reports → Dotti.

I want a refund.

Dotti has a free 7-day trial precisely so you can decide before paying. That said, if you bought it and it genuinely doesn't work for you, email me within 14 days of purchase and I'll refund you. After 14 days, refunds are case-by-case.

Will Dotti go on the Mac App Store?

Maybe, eventually. Right now Dotti is sold direct so it can ship updates faster and stay outside the App Store sandbox limits that make some features harder. If you'd prefer to buy on the App Store, tell me — that signal helps me decide.
